Tyla Laura Seethal, professionally known as Tyla was born on the 20th of January, 2002 and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. The 22-year-old is the middle child of five and is of Indian, Zulu, Mauritian and Irish descent. The beautiful singer started her professional career at the age of 17.

It is amazing to know that the Grammy awardee once had the intention of abandoning music at a point in her career due to the disappointments and discouragement she faced while coming up.

Against majority belief of African parents towards their children’s interest in entertainment, Tyla enjoyed optimum support from her parents and relations. This indeed strengthened her resolve to push towards excelling in her musical career.

Surprisingly, before coming into limelight, the “Water” crooner had at earlier times sent some of her recordings to notable musicians but never got any positive reply… Instead of wrecking her, she decided to take her fate into her own hands and began making use of her social media platforms to showcase her talents… Her followers increased in every social media platform, and it skyrocketed after her release of “Water.”

Her first official music “Getting Late” earned her a nomination in the South African Music Awards… Although she didn’t clinch victory, she was able to use the platform to further boost her prominence… The gorgeous singer is signed to the record label called “Epic Records.” She was signed to the record label in 2021.

One of her releases tilted “Overdue” was also used as soundtrack on Netflix’s Blood and Water. The single featuring Disc Jockey Lag and Kooldrink was used as a soundtrack for the South African Series..

It may not be well known, but the musician has stated that she gets her inspiration from the amiable Beyonce. Beyonce’s achievements has made her dreams valid and she hopes to achieve more strides as she progresses in the career… She stated her dream collaborations to be Rema, Beyonce, and Chloe X Halle.

Adding to her achievements, young Tyla have been privileged to go on a tour with the legendary singer Chris Brown. This was after Tyla performed the hit single “Water” at the 02 Arena with an impressive fan base …

As widely known, Tyla won the recently concluded Grammy… Beating Nigeria’s Davido, Asake, Burna Boy, and Olamide to clinch victory. This is one step closer to more wins for the beautiful soulful Singer.
