Anthony Joshua Knocks Out Francis Ngannou

British born renowned fighter Anthony Joshua in his most recent bout with French – Cameroonian boxer; Francis Ngannou have left many mouths hanging open over his victory.

The boxing match scheduled for the night of Friday 8th March, 2024 lingered till the early hours of Saturday morning 9th March, 2024. It was held at the Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia. The match was set to be a 10 round heavyweight boxing match.

Fifty seconds to the end of round two however sealed victory for Anthony Joshua as he closed on Ngannou with a big right followed by an attacking left. Joshua finished off Francis with a monstrous overhand right that left Ngannou unconscious. He was however resuscitated by the medical team on ground to the relief of many. This astonishing move by AJ crowned him victor of the boxing match and brought pride to Nigerians worldwide.

Anthony Joshua is a former two time world champion. While Francis Ngannou is a feted former mixed martial arts heavyweight champion.

In a tweet by Francis Ngannou from his verified account, he said “sorry guys I let you all down. Today was a bad day in the office but tomorrow will be another day. Thank you all for the love.”

Taking to the walls of Twitter, a user by the name Everywhere You Tweet, tweeted that “After all those mouth Francis Ngannou made, he didn’t even pass 2 rounds. Anthony Joshua finish am. Congratulations AJ.”

Some people were however of the opinion that the match was staged judging from the performance of Ngannou in his last match against Tyson Fury. They opined that it was not possible for Anthony Joshua to have floored Francis Ngannou in such a short time. A Twitter user drpenking in his tweet said “Congratulations to AJ but it obvious that this fight was staged. That punch didn’t even touch the guy. Why did he fall. Slow it down and rewatch.
