Actress Eniola Ajao has finally opens up on why popular crossdresser, Bobrisky was given the “Best-Dressed Female” award at the premiere of her movie, “Ajakaju:  Beast of two worlds” on Sunday night, which sparked a lot of controversy.

The movie’s producer, Eniola Ajao, awarded ‘Best Dressed Female’ and ‘Best Dressed Male’ to two attendees with the most impressive fashion choices at the event.  Bobrisky, who identifies as a female, clinched the ‘Best Dressed Female’ and was awarded N1 million, while ex-BBNaija housemate Groovy emerged as the ‘Best Dressed Male’ with N1 million respectively.

Bobrisky, who donned an all-black outfit with a cape and a staff, beat the likes of Toyin Abraham, Mercy Aigbe, Iyabo Ojo, and several other stunning female celebrities that graced the event.

Eniola explaining why Bobrisky clinched the award, revealed that it was a mere publicity stunt, aimed at getting the public talking about the movie. She made this known during an interview with Arise News TV, she said they were looking for a way to promote the movie and the best idea she got was to bring Bobrisky in the picture, considering his controversial personality.

She said: It was all a joke, we just wanted to have fun, we wanted people to talk because my team and I decided that we needed people to talk about this movie, it needs to be in the faces of people. I’ve taken it upon myself to protect the image of a lot of people at the same time, I’ve been doing it all alone and I wasn’t getting the help I felt I needed so I was like ‘okay what do we do for people to talk about this film?’ and we decided that let’s give it to Bob because he’s always a controversial person.”

However, people are not talking about the movie as envisaged by the actress and her team but rather, people are talking about Bobrisky. A lot of well-meaning Nigerians have reacted to the controversy as some sees it as a big insult to the women in Nigeria.

Ugezu J. Ugezu reacting said: so many people have lost it. how can a man win the price for “the best dressed female” in an event organized by human beings? is this sincerely not a slap on the faces of our women who are working hard every day to be the best of themselves? sometimes, i pause and ponder, where are we headed in this country?

Actress Dayo Amusan, who was present at the movie premiere, walked out when Bobrisky was named the winner. The address on Monday shared a video on her Instagram page, condemning what transpired at the event. She expressed her utter disappointment at the judges who chose Bobrisky over the real women. Tagging it “disrespectful to all the women present at the event” and suggested that if they necessarily want to honour Bobrisky, then they should have created a category for crossdressers instead.

In her words, she said: “I attended the premiere of a colleague yesterday, where they announced that the Best Dressers would be chosen” one female and one male. Let me clarify: the winner could be anyone, but certainly not a crossdresser. I mean, what’s the issue here? I don’t understand it.

“I can’t fathom the judges disrespecting every woman present. You had to select a winner, both a female and male, best-dressed, and yet you undermine the effort of all the women, thereby awarding the best-dressed female title to a crossdresser. I don’t understand; what’s wrong with us?”

Toyi Abraham reacting said: “Bobrisky as the best-dressed female? If I give you an uppercut! Are you all insane that Bobrisky is winning Best Female? Are you crazy? Well, you better share some of that money with me”

Similarly, Portable, the Zaazu crooner took the criticism to another level as he threatened to beat Bobrisky with firewood for betraying brotherhood and joining sisterhood. He also noted that the judges were promoting homosexuality. The controversial singer even released a single, criticizing Bobrisky in the music.

Bobrisky responding to the criticisms said that he is now a woman and women just have to accept her as one of them. Also, recall that the crossdresser had earlier announced that he has acquired vagina.

The crossdresser shared on his Instagram page that his transition journey into womanhood went smoothly without any health issues. He requested Nigerians to address him as a woman, mentioning that he underwent breast surgery after removing his manhood.

“I want to express my gratitude to all my doctors, both at home and abroad. You all have done an amazing job with my body,” said Bobrisky.

The crossdresser also criticized those who questioned his gender.
