The wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has offered cash and food items to over 200 nursing mothers to improve the well-being of mothers and children in the state.

According to a statement on Saturday, Mrs. Abiodun presented the gifts during an awareness programme organized by her office to celebrate Breastfeeding Week, with the theme “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All.”

The event took place at the Ilisan Primary Healthcare Center, which is located in Ilisan Remo within the Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

The First Lady reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to advancing the practice of breastfeeding through awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, and active involvement with communities. Her goal is to empower mothers, families, and the wider population with knowledge about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding.

Abiodun emphasized the importance of breastfeeding, saying it should not be considered as a privilege but a fundamental right for infants. She explained that breastfeeding goes beyond providing nourishment and is actually a crucial foundation for a healthy beginning in life, setting the stage for lifelong well-being.
